Additionally, you will receive access to millions of dollars of federal spending set aside expressly for VOSB Certified entities.

How to Get Veteran-Owned Business Certified

Veterans owning small businesses willing to research and complete the lengthy certification process may do so independently. You can file for a Federal Veteran-Owned Business status through the SBA.

The Vets-First Verification Program

To get your business certified as a Veteran-Owned or Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned firm, you must use the Vets First Verification Program through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Veterans Benefits, Health Care, and Information Technology Act of 2006 gave the VA a unique opportunity to assist the nation’s veterans through procurement of VOSB/SDVOSB set-asides and contracts. With that opportunity, the VFV Program was born.

This program affords verified firms owned and controlled by Veterans the opportunity to compete for VA set-asides. It was put in place to check the eligibility, ownership status, and control of Veteran-Owned Small Businesses throughout the United States.

This means businesses just like yours who can prove Veteran-Owned status will be put to the top of the line to compete for Government Contracts worth millions.

Types of Veteran-Owned Business Certifications

Federal Certifications like the VOSB and SDVOSB offer the most lucrative opportunities for Veteran business owners. However, specific qualifications make these certifications tough to receive for some companies.
That’s where State Certifications such as the Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) can be perfect for growing businesses. Check out the different options available to Veteran-Owned Businesses looking to get certified.

  • Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) Certification

Similar to the VOSB Certification, but at the State Level, this creates easier access for veteran-owned businesses that are not quite ready to take on the Federal sector.

  • Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) Certification

The holy grail of Federal Certifications, the VOSB Certification, will set your Veteran-Owned business up to receive 5% off all Government contracting dollars.

  • Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Certification

The SDVOSB will set your business up to receive millions in contracts for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses considered service disabled.

Can Any Business Get Veteran-Owned Certified?
